๐Ÿ’ฅ Broad-based sell-off โ€“ Both crypto and equity markets are under pressure amid fears over the long-term economic impact of US tariffs.

โ€

๐Ÿ”ป Altcoins hit hardest โ€“ Many altcoins have posted overnight losses exceeding 25%, while Bitcoin and Ethereum have also seen steep declines.

โ€

๐Ÿ”ฎ Policy pivot โ€“ JPMorgan sees a rising risk of recession and forecasts rate cuts at every Fed meeting through January.

GLOBAL risk assets, including cryptocurrencies and equities, are facing significant pressure as markets begin to price in the extended economic fallout of the latest US tariff announcements.

The S&P 500 remains on a steep downward trajectory, while losses in the crypto space have accelerated, particularly among altcoins, which have been hit hardest by the wave of volatility.

Bitcoin has fallen roughly 8% since yesterday, moving in tandem with major technology stocks, while Ethereum has dropped nearly twice as much. The broader cryptocurrency market capitalisation has shed more than 10% over the same period.

โ€

โ€œThe size and disruptive impact of US trade policies, if sustained, would be sufficient to tip a still healthy US and global expansion into recession,โ€ Bruce Kasman, chief economist at JPMorgan, told Reuters.

He currently puts the probability of a recession at 60%.

โ€œWe continue to expect a first Fed easing in June,โ€ he added. โ€œHowever, we now think the Committee cuts at every meeting through January, bringing the top of the funds rate target range down to 3.0%.โ€

Whether the anticipated monetary easing will be enough to soothe jittery markets remains to be seen. For crypto investors, the path ahead is increasingly tied to broader macroeconomic uncertainty - making near-term recovery anything but guaranteed.
